The McCann look for "more powerfull backers" and appeal to Gordon Brown

"Kate and Gerry McCann go straight to Gordon Brown in search for more powerful backers", is the byline from The Times. The regular contacts of Gerry McCann with the Prime-Minister were severed, after the McCann were named formal suspects.
Now, with Clarence Mitchell, the former director of Media Monitoring Unit (a department from COI, the Central Office of Information which is the Government's centre of excellence for marketing and communications) again as Press Officer, the McCann get a new and improved channel of contact with all levels of British Government, as The Times reports:
“Mitchell still has the key phone numbers and e-mail addresses of people in power and will continue to use them. He has attended top-level briefings at Nº 10 every weekday for the past two years". COI works with government departments and agencies to produce information campaigns on issues that affect the lives of every citizen - from health and education to benefits, rights and welfare
