McCann will not take legal action against Portuguese Government

Rogério Alves, former Bar Association President, told today that the McCann couple “don't see any reason to sue the Portuguese Government.” Mr. Alves said that Gerry and Kate “were obviously frustrated because they couldn't find what happened to their daughter and who was responsible for it, but they don't infer that (Portuguese) police has done a bad job, or that there is any reason to sue the Portuguese Government.”

Talking to “Barlavento Online” a Algarve news site, Mr. Alves admitted that, after the analysis to the 30 thousand pages of the files is finished, “we can reach the conclusion that we should do nothing and just leave everything as it is”, concerning further legal action for reopen the investigation of appeal to the Public Prosecutor's Office.

The fact that the investigation hasn't found what was the crime and the perpetrator doesn't mean that police has done a bad job”, the McCann lawyer said.
