The Press conference was canceled. I couldn't update my blog, because yesterday nigth I had to rush (for the third time this week!!) to hospital with my 85 years old father. He is going through a very difficult situation, because his much loved dog (his best friend, for the last 10 years!!!) a small pekinois, was mauled, in front of his eyes, by a pitbul, last Sunday. I started a campaign to ask Portuguese Government to issue a law similar to British Dangerous Dogs Act(1991). The page (http://caesassassinos.blogspot.com/)is in Portuguese, but I'll publish an English version soon. Anyway, the pictures I have there tell the story in a clear way, you don't need to read Portuguese.
So, this is the reason why I failed to make a follow-up of the story about the Press Conference...I'll do it in a couple of hours, as I know that developments in the case was the reason they decided to cancel it. Seems that Police got more clues and decided to deepen the investigation, and delay the realese of information...

Some good news, at last!! The dog is improoving and will come home next Monday. On Tuesday, he will go to a specialized veterinary clinic, to see if there is any chance of walking again. He is reacting to contacts with his rear legs, but can't move it. So, may be his spine isn't so afected has we thought. My father saw the dog, today, and those good news were the best medicine for his health condition! I'm working hard to update news about Madeleine on the Portuguese Press (and there are a lot news..). I promise to have most of it online before midnight (it's 10:39 pm, June 1st, now...)

Regards

Paulo Reis

PS - I have a English version of the page of main campaign against killer dogs:

Mr. Anonymous:

Yesterday, my parents brought back home their little dog,a pekinois, mauled by a pit bull on Sunday, May 27. When my father saw the dog, with his rear legs paralized, trying to walk to his prefered resting place (near the sofa, in the living room where my father always sits, watching tv and reading newspapers)he just broke down, completly. I was at his side, as I knew something like that will happen. I had to carry him to bed and, later, to a doctor, again, because his blood pressure was 19 (and he is 85 years old, has a half-obstructed carotid artery and an ischemic heart disease...)

So, I brought him back home and had to stay there, until very late in the night, to be sure he was stabilized... Just wake up one hour ago...

Now, I'm going through some 80 emails and, as soon as I finish that, I'l try check that information
