PJ detectives against removal of Gonçalo Amaral

----

After the dismissal of Criminal Coordinator Gonçalo Amaral, the investigation of Madeleine's disappearance may loose another PJ detective. Tavares Almeida, one of the three leading detectives in charge of a group of around two dozen, is considering the possibility of asking for a leave without pay. Other detectives, including the third and last in the chain of command of this group, Luis Neves, could take the same decision. Luis Neves has already refused to replace Gonçalo Amaral. The team of Police detectives that has been in charge of Madeleine's investigation will hold an informal meeting today, following the decision from the Portuguese Government to remove Gonçalo Amaral.

The McCanns have powerful links with the US and UK governments. Lots of money flow into their hands because they work in rehabilitation of drug addicts in government places (and their families)
So the McCanns hold many dirty secrets and are putting pressure on their partners to cover for them.
Who is Peter McCann, owner of Castle Craiag?
Is he Gerry's uncle?
Was he the one that run away on the 4th of May from Praia da Luz?

FROM SUSPECTS TO ACCUSERS AND LEADING INVESTIGATORS
The McCanns are cold and arrogant to tell investigators what is the right thread to follow.
This team has so many tentacles trying to bomb the Portuguese police force.
It is systematic work, not amateur work. Intelligence services probably creating a crises between the men that are in charge of the investigation.
Hamlet: "Though this be madness, yet there is method in it."
Shame on the UK (once more)

From where I'm standing, the decision to remove amaral was not the easy route but will prove the best route to follow. I'm not suggesting Amaral did a bad job, but he certainly was a liability for any future accusation against the McCanns simply because of suspicions on the Joana case.
The shortsight was to involve him in the investigation from the beginning and that is something Alipio Ribeiro should come out and justify.

Portugal should remind US/UK that it's not another Iraq. It's a sovereign country with its own legal system and this deserves respect. Portuguese, stand up for your country and your sovereignty!!!

Oh, really? Perhaps you could check your facts? It appears that he asked for the leave BEFORE Amaral was removed; sounds to me like like Amaral's "team" was threatening to abandon ship if something WASN'T done about him. We may never know if he was responsible for the damage to Ms. Cipriano's face, but he certainly left a black-eye on his nation.

Keep going, PJ. You only have to look at mirror.co.uk "The Hunt for Maddy" to know how many thousands of British and other people believe that the Team McCann, the British press, and even the British Government are trying to cover up a terrible event which was caused by the McCanns and their friends' negligence - or perhaps even by something more sinister. We have rarely seen such determination to cover up the truth, and to insult the PJ and the Portuguese people. Put an independent, determined professional in charge of the investigation and find the truth!

Dear Anonymous:

About "check your facts": Mr Tavares didn't asked for a leave without pay before Mr. Gonçalo Amaral was removed. He asked AFTER and BECAUSE Mr. Amaral was removed. Nice try, spining at all speed...

Paulo, try and have a look at this article from The Times (which I take it used to be your "own" paper). They also report that he made the request before Mr Amaral was dismissed...

So what are we to believe....??

And that story is Clarence Mitchel doing his job. It has been already published in several British "newspapers". I will tell you what will be next story about Mr. Tavares Almeida (several British "journalists" are already typing it..)

Next slur of British Media against Mr. Tavares Almeida will be a story about the fact that he worked ata specific section of PJ, with another detective that was arrested because she took money and/or drugs, seized by police, from a PJ deposit.

No PJ detective from Mr. Amaral's team can replace him - the McCann want somebody that is willing to "refocus" the line of inquiry...

So, it's necessary to destroy the credibility of any candidate...

Curious, the Times page is back.. I wonder if they did some small changes in the story, as they have done before..

Paulo

I'm very interested in knowing why you within the last couple of months have had such a shift in your views of this case.

Initially you wrote that you strongly believed in the innocence of Kate & Gerry - especially after seeing the extreme pain in Kate's eyes.

So what made you change your mind. Whar evidence have you had access to - and I am not talking about all the "a source near to the investigation" quotes, as I do not believe any of those rumours and smoke screen. And that goes for both British and Portugese.

Cleaning house in this PJ that is a shambles is badly needed. They are the most inept, lazy, drunken police I have ever seen.

My information about the timing of his request came from a respected Portugese paper, quoting a CITED official Portugese source--NOT from the trash papers in EITHER country--and I believe you will find I am correct.

I had no "shift" in my views of this case... Evidence colllected by a British Police Special team, with dogs Eddie and Keela, at Praia da Luz (end of July, beggining of August), change the line of inquiry. The evidence available before didn't pointed to any responsibility of the McCann, in the sisappearance of Madeleine.

But, with the help of British Police, new evidence was found - and the samples that supportted the new evidence ahve been analysied at a British laboratory, the Forensic Science Service...

So, it was BRITISH POLICE WHO FOUND EVIDENCE THAT THE McCANN HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE DISAPPEARANCE OF MADELEINE.. Not the "most inept, lazy, drunken police" in the world.. Or was the Anonynmous that wrote it referring to British Police?

Hi Paulo,

Thank you for your excellent blog. I appreciate your anti-spin of the McCann investigation.

I was wondering why some reports claim although Amaral was removed from this investigation he has been promoted and other sources have reported Amaral was demoted?

I know that just like in so many other stories connected to the McCanns both reports cannot be true so could you please set the record straight?

I value your journalistic honesty and integrity.

Best wishes,

Paulette

Dear Paulette,

Mr. Amaral was appointed, more than two years ago, to head the DIC of Portimão (DIC= Direcção de Investigação Criminal, in English “Criminal Investigtion Department” of Portimão) Now, this appointment, whis is done on a two-years period, usualy renewable, was terminated and he went back to Faro, where he was a Criminal Coordinator before. Criminal Coordinator is one of the ranks of PJ: Inspector, Chief-Inspector, Criminal Coordinator... So, he was demoted, because he was on a position where he was in charge of a Department and now is no more at that post.

Regards and thank you for your kind words..
